Hey! Everyone how are you all doing? Hope your week is going all well and dandy!

The Nigerian fashion week went down from the 15th of September to the 17th at the Muson Centre at Onikan showcasing collections from over 70 local and international designers.

Although I wasn’t able to be there in person, I have been fortunate to get a view of some of the collections displayed, thanks to our friends at

Out of all the designers collections featured on their website, Zizi Cardows’ really struck me; it made a long lasting impression.

Zizi is known to bring drama to the catwalk, from the high cut slits to the ethnic flair of her exquisite designs. Her designs are best described as strong, bold and daring!
And for that, she is ‘most’ loved by yours truly.

Here’s a look at her collection through my eyes;

Dramatic Long Sleeves

Asymmetrical Skirts/Short front-long trailing back dresses

Empire Waist Line

Tie-neck halter dresses

Zizis’ collection took a softer approach, however still striking, with dramatic long sleeves in flowing chiffon, extending to kaftans, the short front-long trailing back dresses with tiered frills and layers.

Although a bit ‘covered’ up, her love for the show of skin is displayed with deep plunging necklines, backlines and the string held bare backs.

Zizi showcases soft feminine dress pieces by using floral prints, sequin and lace detail trimmings.

Still staying true to her style, we see her signature animal print, corsetry and use of african fabrics; the aso-oke fabric being the most prominent in her collection.

Most pieces in her collection can easily transition from the runway to the red-carpet, so I look forward to seeing our celebs ‘stun’ in them!

The asymmetric dresses really wowed me, especially these two, they are just absolutely stunning.
