MAN DAY PLUS+ A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF!!!!!!!!!

Hey! I haven’t blogged all week…yes I know! Been pretty pre-occupied. So I am going to bombard you with more than just one article.

First and foremost, I will like to use this medium to inform you all that the new issue of confidence magazine is out. The magazine is very multi-cultural; it features columnists from around the globe and articles about various fashion industries, including the Nigerian…yes! You can go check it out at
http://www.confidencemagazine.co.uk/

Anyway, I said I was going to do a man day and am not going to talk about Fashion…I am not in the mood, to be sincere I was a bit de-motivated when I read an article which said that men do not dress for fashion, they dress to belong, for comfort and for life (although I am certain that there are exemptions) …..So, I said to myself…ok! No fashion…just post an article on how men can improve their relationships with their partners…yeah...like I know???...right???...lol.., but I will do a fashion article which will focus on what to look for when going for a casual suit, a formal suit…etc.

Ok! guys ….there is nothing a girl likes more than a spontaneous gift. It should be the premiere weapon in your armour against the vagaries of that absurd, random, unknown quantity-the female mind! Want your girlfriend to be putty in your arms then read on……………….

When she is feeling ugly a facial at Beauty Concerns
When she’s really unimpressed with you some very expensive silk lingerie
When she has got nothing to wear….anything...anything….from Deola Sagoes’ prêt a porter collection.
When you have been boring lately…a pair of tickets to watch a chick-flick movie she has been dying to see
When things have been boring lately….A weekend at La campagne Tropicana
When you feel like indulging her baser girlie instincts…throw pillows from Jewel by Lisa home store
When you’ve been neglecting her... Afternoon tea with champagne at the poshest hotel in town.
When it’s her birthday... a homemade wittily annotated album of the last year’s photographs
When the urban life gets her down…. A weekend at Obudu cattle ranch
When you just really love her Rocks (the big sparkly ones, the biggest you can afford)
When you’ve got no reason at all Cupcakes from her favourite pastry shop

And now back to fashion…..One of the notable fashion weeks which we all look forward to is the Milan fashion week. A lot of great designers hail from Italy and Italians are known to be very fashionable people…so here are hits ladies and gentlemen into getting the essence of Italian style…

1) THE HOURGLASS DRESS- knee-length and belted, but never quite demure

2) NARROW, DARK COLOURED TIE- The perfect complement to a great white shirt

3) FRESHLY LAUNDERED BLUE DENIM JEANS- Mama-(not stone) -washed, and perfectly pressed

4) LEATHER BELT-No belt loop should be left unfilled

5) LOAFERS- Worn with silk socks or bare feet

4) NEAT HAIRCUT

5) SUNGLASSES- Chunky frame, dark lenses and worn anytime, any place

6) CRISP COTTON SHIRT- Cutaway collar, contoured fit, embroidered monogram and about half a can of Robin Starch...lol…

7) JEWELERY- Crosses, chains and trinkets to personalise every fashion look with a statement of faith!

The strangest thing happened…well, an anonymous reader claims to know my real identity, decided to post her comment..so you’ll see for yourself;

‘Yeah yeah..the dress didn't look nice on her.... everyone has their off days...funny thing is that i happen to know this naijafashionfreak and she is about the worse dresser on earth. Where on earth does she get off handing down fashion tips??? lol..this is the joke of the century. errr....fashionfreak b4 ur previous job weren't u a messy mess dresser. Weren't u tushed up by ur generous boss...my dear give other people a chance to wake up from their messy mess dressing Slumber. Just the way we gave u a chance. Well…I knew some drama was coming sooner or later…me being a fashion police and all…dishing out my outrageous comments…giving out tough love...so….anyway, this is hilarious! All I have to say is…you think you know…but you have no idea!

That’s all folks…. I am working on a party series, which will showcase different looks one can adopt for a party and identify what each look represents and how they can be pulled off….so yes! I have a busy weekend…hope you all have a fashion fabulous weekend…if u need advice…It is naijafashionfreak@gmail.com
See you when I see you and remember to always keep your fashion freak on!

OH, NO, NOT AGAIN! IT IS ANOTHER EPISODE: VICTORIA BECKHAM AND WHO NOW????

hey! I have been so busy...you can't imagine..so much for a stress free week!....Anyway, I know that I am meant to do a man post, in fact....am acting on impulse at the mo and just posting....didn't prepare for this, but fashion duty calls and you know naijafashionfreak can't say NO!!!!

Don't ask me what I am doing up this early, I myself have no answer to that question! I was going through photos of the Thisday Award at www.purefoto.com website, when I saw this photo. The dress is very familiar, no let me rephrase, I know this dress! In Hollywood, everyone knows the king of cling, designer Herve Leger...his designs are easily recognisable because of how form fitted they are. This dress worn by this lady is either a Herve Leger or you know..tailorloran..lol...I guess we can't get enough of his designs..or should I say his re-makes!

Personally, I think this lady made the wrong choice....why pick this one???....not only am I going to put her on a very uncomfortable spot for wearing a Herve Leger look-alike, a dress which has been already been repeated by celebs..Rihanna...Ciara.... but damnnnnnnn......what was she thinking???? This dress is a total no no no way!!!! (yeah! you know, I got my Jennifer Hudson on!) ..lol...COMMON!!!!(Serena Williams I need you here!).....baby....in my best Barry White voice....'am gonna say this nice and slow' .....lol...you aint got the body to pull off this dress! It is far from figure flattering.....and its not doing its best to hide all your lady lumps!!!...lol...I understand, its not your fault really....looks can be deceiving!!!!!

That's all folks, will probably do the man post later today...looking forward to reading your comments..let me know how you feel.....if she had sent an email to naijafashionfreak@gmail.com she certainly would be posted for all the right reasons...*wink*wink*..remember to always keep your fashion freak on!

ALL ABOUT CONCEALERS PLUS+ TOJU FOYEH!!!!
Hey! Hope you all had a fab weekend! and are having a great week! I used to have interesting weekend stories…but now, I don’t! I spent most of my weekend, resting, trying to replace all my dead cells in order to bounce back with a bang! So here I am stronger than I will ever be!

Being a football fan, an arsenal fan specifically, it wasn’t such a good football weekend…o well! I am over it… and it has come to the time where I lay all my worries aside and talk fashion…or should I say beauty and fashion!

Fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand, so I will be posting articles on beauty once in a while, and today happens to be one of those days!

Make-up does so many for us women….it enhances our beauty and it also conceals our flaws! This article is all about concealers; how to apply one and the top ten concealers.Enjoy!

Are you applying concealer correctly?

Pat, don't rub concealer under your eyes where dark, under eye circles appear. I find it's best to use your middle finger. Concealer is not a product to scrimp on and it's important to find the right match for your skin tone. Try before you buy at the beauty counters.

The best concealers work undercover without anyone noticing them. Here you'll find the top 10 concealers in a variety of formulations: Concealers to cover redness, under-eye circles, pimples & even body flaws. Here are picks for top concealers:

1. Conceal Redness: Laura Mercier secret Camoflage
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage completely camouflages dark circles, minor imperfections & discolorations.
We love this concealer because it smartly comes in 2 shades(one to match the skins depth of colour & one to match the skins undertone) so you can blend your perfect match (you may notice you need different shades for different seasons). InStyle magazine made it a 'Best Beauty Buy' for '06, because the pros say its yellow undertones help make it the best concealer for covering up redness. 'It even works on broken veins,' one makeup artist claimed.
Note:

-High level of pigment requires very little product to achieve complete coverage
-Always apply after foundation

2. World's Most Popular Concealer; YSL's Touche Eclat
One of Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Eclat concealers is sold every 20 seconds around the world.

3. Best Inexpensive Concealer: L'Oreal Paris True Match
The formula mimics your skin's texture, plus it's super-blendable, practically disappearing onto the skin surface. You'll love the lightweight, creamy texture. But it does cover-up as well.

4. Best Concealer for Body: Dermablend Cover Creme This remarkable product easily conceals any facial imperfection, such as:
Sores
Cuts
pimples
veins on legs & body.
Scarring
Freckles
Bruises
Burn scars
Spots and birthmarks
Age spots
Rosacea
Vitiligo
For complete, natural-looking coverage, nothing compares to Dermablend’s Cover Creme. Recommended by dermatologists, endorsed by Hollywood actors, models and make-up artists, Directions For Use:Select the Cover Crème shade closest to your skin tone by matching your jaw bone. Apply to the palm of your hand and using a circular motion warm and soften with fingertips; then apply to moisturized skin in a dab-pat motion.

Runner up: MAC Face and Body Foundation

5.Best Highlighter: laura Mercier's Secret Brighter
Use this to conceal dark circles and discolorations. The wand can also be used on the browbone as a highlighter. It will magically make eyes look more awake, wider.

6. Best Pimple Concealer: Dermablend Smooth Inteligence Concealer
Just a little bit of this 'grand dame' of concealers does the job, according to InStyle magazine, which named this a best beauty buy for 2006. But leave this concealer for your pimples only. You'll want a lighter, creamier formula for under your eyes.

7.Best Illuminator: Gurelain Perfect Light Illuminator
Illuminators have the amazing ability to make your skin look 10 times better than it does. They're rather new & a makeup artist favourite. What we love about them is how they camouflage like a concealer while adding flattering highlights to the face. (Illuminators are tinged with shimmery gold specks). Ladies Home Journal beauty editors suggest you dab it on your cheekbones, browbone or above your cupid's bow.

Cheaper version: Estee Lauder Ideal Light Illuminator

8. Best Concealer to Cover up Under-Eye circles: Sue Devitt Automatic Camoulflage
To cover dark circles under eyes, you need a yellow or peach-tone concealer.

Runners up: Stila Eye Concealer

9. Benefit Lemon Aid Concealer:
We also hear great things about Cle de Peau Beaute, a favorite of makeup artists and a winner several years in a row in InStyle Best Beauty Buys issue.

10.Best Basic Under Eye Concealer; Bobbi Brown
A moist formula, such as Bobbi Brown's creamy concealer won't highlight fine lines & wrinkles, while still providing enough cover for dark circles

LET ME RE-INTRODUCE THE LABEL 'TOJU FOYEH'

GREAT MINDS really do think alike, I have been preparing a post on an emerging label ‘Toju foyeh’….and coincidentally, Bella had too!!!...she even beat me to it! Anyway, here are additional photos and information about her label.

She discovered from a young age her passion for fashion and her desire to lay her footprints in the Nigerian fashion industry; ‘Ever since I was little, designs and fashion always intrigued me. My mum used to sew a (long) while ago. When I was younger, seeing her literally bring fabric to life really inspired me. I still remember the first time she allowed me to pick out my own cloth and design. It was then I knew I wanted to go commercial.’

She believes what differentiates her label is the classy/sassy look it always incorporates whether using traditional Ankara or rich silk. In addition, the way her designs appeal to both young and old ladies.
She recognises the desire for Young and old ladies to look good and believes her designs do exactly that!

Her dream for her label ‘Toju Foyeh’ is to make it synonymous with other top high Fashion Nigerian designers such as Deola Sagoe for example and she is also considering expanding into footwear and accessories. Good luck to her!

My verdict:
'In her collection, she displays the essence of femininity. Her designs speak ultra sexy, super confident. The use of a wide range of bright colours and bold prints (organic and Ankara) emphasizes this! The beauty in the designs is in the clean cuts and the attention to detail.'

That’s all folks, I am going to be a doing a Man day sometime this week, and the post won’t be about fashion. Yes! It will be an insight into the mind of a woman! Yes! So read on! Need advice on anything fashion and beauty related, it is naijafashionfreak@gmail.com See you when I see you and remember to always keep your fashion freak on!

Hey everyone!, how are you all doing? How did vals day go for you?, gosh! nawa for Lagos! the traffic yesterday was hellish! to say the least, vals day didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it would, although I made a trip to the doctor because it seems like I have come down with malaria..yes o! mosquitoes!..they have had their way with me!...but H-I-M surprised me!....he made my day!

When I saw the dress Ashionye wore to the Future Awards, I knew that I had seen it before, but it just didn't click, then a reader made a comment highlighting that Ashionye tried to re-create the House of Dereon original that my girl Beyonce wore to the American Music Awards last year!....that was all I needed..so here you have it 'THE WHO RAN IT BETTER EXCLUSIVE: BEYONCE OR ASHIONYE'

THE SHOES THAT HAVE GOT THE 'HOTS' FOR YOUR FEET!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! how are you all doing???? hope your week is going all well and dandy!!! Mine is just there...started well..but slowly...but.....surely....degenerated.......aarrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!! anyway, hope things get better....I finally found some strenght within me to post this particular article,' THE SHOES THAT HAVE GOT THE 'HOTS' FOR YOUR FEET'

This post is all about putting your best foot forward! It is about shoes, shoes, and more shoes! This is a peek into the top trends and hottest styles in women’s shoes. This should give you an advanced look for the upcoming season. Enjoy!!!!

WEDGE SHOES:
I have never been a fan of these shoes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be! Like dah!!!!!!!!!...lol...wedge shoes are still a mini trend as they aren’t exactly a craze yet! However, there are definitely enough of them on the shelves to call them a trend. The good news is, this is a style that's easy to wear, and one that works especially well with warm weather shoes like espadrilles and sandals…perfect for the Nigerian Climate…don’t you think???

PATENT LEATHER SHOES:
Ecstatically, we're not done with patent leather yet. Get ready to see all of these season's bright colours coated with shiny varnish. All I can say to my fellow patent leather fans is to enjoy these glistening gems while you can and don’t get too carried away in the trend because as hard as it is to believe, shiny shoes aren't always so popular.

SLING BACK SHOES:
Sling-back shoes will be hitting the streets and our feet with a vengeance this Season. Sling-backs are in a certain way less-confining than regular pumps. And while back straps are usually found on shoes with higher heels, this season, they can even be found on flats and lower heeled styles. So get buying, re-stocking and buying!!!..lol...

SHOES WITH CUT-OUT UPPERS:
Shoes with holes in them are hawt right now! Laser cut, punched, mesh and perforated uppers can be found on everything with designs ranging from dainty floral patterns to designs that look nearly industrial. While this trend isn't quite as omnipresent as some of the others on the list, it is one of the more innovative.

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL:
‘All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small…’ that is actually one of my favourite hymns. I got the chance to make fashion out of it…and there you have it!..Lol... With shoes this season, get ready to stock your shoe closet with purple pumps, pink platforms and melon mary janes! I say, free your mind, open your heart and willingly dive into the world of colour as the colours of the rainbow are well represented in this season’s selection of footwear. There is a special emphasis on hot and citrus colours like oranges, limes, yellows and pinks.

COLOUR BLOCK SHOES:
Another huge trend is Colour Block shoes (or shoes with "colour blocking") - which is basically a 50 cent term for shoes that combine big, bold areas of contrasting colours. It's a great look and one I'm really fond of because it has a way of creating this ‘playfully chic’ look, which I am suddenly a sucker for! Colour block shoes work so well with mod styles, bright colours and shiny finishes; it's the perfect time for its comeback.

PRINT SHOES:
I bought a pair of floral print shoes a few years ago, and was actually contemplating letting them go, but thank goodness I didn’t; because they are back! And to feel so hellishly fab with myself, I wore them to church on Sunday...Lol…God help me! I employ all proclaimed fashionistas to embrace this trend. Print shoes have a certain charm, they can add a bit of personality to a basic outfit. A simple outfit can be spiced up with a pair of print shoes, which will make a difference! Unlike bright colours, pastels or neutral shades, prints are great for pulling together multiple colours! From floral patterns, to zebra, to leopard, to retro graphic prints, this trend is one to be in recon with!
The key to pulling them off?-Just keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple.

PLATFORM SHOES:
While we may not be so platform-crazed, they are still a popular choice this season. But if you want to stay on the cutting-edge of this wave, like I will advise all my readers, look for styles that pair one of this season's other hot trends, like bright colours, mettalics or
cut-out uppers, with their thick soles.

METALLIC SHOES:
Metallic shoes are always in! But there are times when they are really in, like in your face in! At those times you will find metallic flats, casuals, boots, and even metallic sneakers. When mettalics aren't quite as hot, you'll find their designs in evening shoes.Well, at present, they are in our faces! So you can have just about any kind of shoe you desire with a metallic finish. The most common metallic finishes are in gold and silver. So, go get your shimmer on!
